Repugs could dismiss accusations of sexual misconduct as long as the accuser was anonymous. Now, not so much.
Kind of a tough call, no? "He said, she said". Back when Clarence Thomas was nominated, tie went to the male, essentially by default. So Thomas got confirmed, and Anita Hill got her reputation trashed.
Now, we got #metoo. We also have female Senators on the Judiciary Committee. Repugs can only afford to lose two of their own, and the most likely two (Collins, Murkowski) just happen to be females. And the three Dem senators up for re-election this year from states that went heavily for Trump (Manchin, Donnelly, Heitkamp) now have perfect cover to vote "NO".
To make matters worse, Kavanaugh's high-school buddy isn't helping matters.
The committee vote has been postponed. New hearings are set for next Monday.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet this nomination is going to go down to defeat.
It's almost unfair. Then again, the situation with Thomas was unfair back in '91, wasn't it? And I see that Deficit or Deficient or whatever he calls himself is already foaming at the mouth. And that's a good thing.
